English as a Second Language Program

Immanuel Baptist Church’s ESL classes will help you learn communication skills for the workplace, learn vocabulary words for specific occupations, and learn how to communicate in your daily living. You will be applying and practicing your conversation, pronunciation, and writing skills.

We have beginning (Level 1) and intermediate (Level 2) level courses. In these courses you will have the opportunity to improve your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.

The best way to learn English is to speak English as much as possible. In the classroom your teacher will plan activities for you to practice your English. We know that you will enjoy the Christian environment of your ESL class and we will be praying that God’s Blessing be in your life and help you improve your English skills quickly. In addition to ESL classes, Immanuel Baptist Church has other activities for all ages that might interest you, your family and friends.

Classes are currently offered at the following times:

Monday Nights 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm (cancelled until further notice)

Thursday Mornings 10:00 am - 12:00 pm - childcare provided

Feeding the Hungry

Currently we give out food bags each Thursday morning at 9:00 am. There is a limited number and they are on a first come, first served basis.

West Virginia Mission

Immanuel Baptist Church has an active partnership with HarborLight Church in Oceana, West Virginia. This is a unique mission field because HarborLight is known as the Children's Church. There are approximately 20 children that come regularly, but very few adults attend which makes it a challenge for Pastor Jim and his wife Grace. They are very grateful for help from outside groups that will come and share God's love, especially to the children. We do two missions trips each year - including a Christmas Basket Drive designed to reach the parents of the children.
